Presentation

Politique et Sociétés is a general political science journal whose objective is to disseminate French-language reflection and research from Québec and abroad. Respecting the academic requirements of the discipline, the journal publishes original articles from all perspectives and on all aspects of this field of research. While the journal does not hesitate to assert its difference in paying particular attention to Québec society, it is also attentive to the events and phenomena that motivate other societies. Consequently, the journal plays an important role in putting into perspective current events and in analyzing the various issues raised by the organization of political life.

Submission and Peer Assessment Policy

Three times a year, Politiques et Sociétés publishes original and unpublished research articles, reviews, and research notes in all areas of political science. These are subject to an anonymous evaluation by at least two external evaluators on the basis of their contribution to the advancement of the scientific knowledge and the requirements of the discipline.

Authors are invited to consult the Submission Guidelines and to submit their manuscripts via Open Journal Systems (OJS), the manuscript management system, at the following address: https://revuepolsoc.ojs.umontreal.ca/index.php/revuepolsoc/about/submissions.
  • Authors may submit a manuscript to Politiques et Sociétés, written using word-processing software not exceeding 30 double-spaced pages, including footnotes, references, and tables;
  • Authors must include in their manuscript an abstract of approximately 100 words, in French and in English, as well as keywords in each language;
  • A biography of up to 6 lines is also required. This can include, for example, the author’s title, institutional affiliations, areas of research, recent publications, and contact information;
  • References should be presented in author-date citation style. The bibliography should follow references;
  • Tables, figures, and graphs should be presented on separate pages in numerical order;
  • The journal uses a double-blind peer review process. Authors are thus asked to avoid references to their own work, or footnotes that might render them easily identifiable.

Policy on inclusive writing and quotes

The journal encourages the use of inclusive writing through its policy, especially regarding the feminisation of texts as well as the inclusive application of quoting practices.

Copyright Policy

The editorial board accepts only those manuscripts that have been exclusively submitted to the journal. That is, a manuscript must not have been previously published, submitted, or accepted for publication in another journal.
By publishing in Politiques et Sociétés, authors relinquish their rights related to their text. They must complete, sign, and return the requisite copyright assignment agreement form by email (ps@umontreal.ca) or by mail to the following address:

  • Copying, in whole or in part, the work of others and passing it off as one’s own;
  • Copying, in whole or in part, one’s own already published work, without referencing the original publication (self-plagiarism).
Depending on the presence and the extent of the plagiarism detected, manuscripts may be rejected at any stage of the process.
